Mothers. Special ones these ones, huh?

MumThat awkward moment when she walks in on you with your girlfriend.
Or that other time when she asks you why so & so’s daughter stopped visiting.
Or the heart attack you almost get when you find her holding your phone.

They even try to hold your hand when you’re crossing the road together – and no, she’s not asking for assistance.
Still calls almost every night of the first year after moving out to find out if you’ve eaten.
Ever notice how she notices even the slightest loss of weight?

How you quickly change the topic when she starts talking of mama Boi’s grandchildren.
And weren’t you in the same class with Boi?” She’d hint, not really asking.
Then she’d subtly remind you that you’re still invited to nani’s wedding.

Oh, what I would give for such experiences!

Mothers.
Never asking. Always giving. Praying Ceaselessly.

Oh, but they lie!
They say time’s a healer,
That the pain will end. Eventually.
Maybe in another life.

14 Years today, and it still feels like yesterday.
It’s not been easy mum. It’s never been.
I hope you look down on us and are proud.
We are giving it our all. The best we can.

Forever loved. Dearly Missed.

Loss and Pain

WARNING: Very Long Read. (My apologies)

Yesterday I had a really trying morning as I read WhatsApp chats from two members of my youth fellowship about the pain their friends were going through after losing their loved ones.

We’ve all experienced loss in one way or another, and every loss is painful in its own way. Be it a friend, a colleague, or a family member, we’ve mourned them. Others more times than others. Continue reading

19 Struggles Of Having An Outgoing Personality But Actually Being Introverted

The story of my life!

Introversion Effect

Like many categorizing systems, the separatist thinking behind them attempts to firmly place us in one container or another.  The flaw in these types of systems is that they don’t always take into account the middle areas of the spectrum.  And any system is just that: a spectrum.  I’ve long stated with unequivocal certainty that I’m introverted.  My friends, however, look at me askance, because I’m actually very fun-loving and outgoing when I need to be.  So on that introvert/extravert spectrum, I fall somewhere to the introverted side, but exhibit limited extroverted tendencies.  Here is an article found online that I have updated to reflect this spectrumized system.

1. You’re not anti-social, you’re selectively social.

2. At any given point, you have one (maybe two) best friends who are your entire life. You’re not a “group of friends” person. You can’t keep up with all that.

3. Social gatherings…

Reason Why I love Kids – Part II

Little Carol came into the kitchen where her other was making dinner. Her birthday was coming up and she thought this was a good time to tell her mother what she wanted. “Mom, I want a bike for my birthday.”

Now, Little Carol was a bit of a troublemaker. She had gotten into trouble at school and at home. Carol’s mother asked her if she thought she deserved to get a bike for her birthday. Little Carol, of course, thought she did.

Carol’s mother, being a Christian woman, wanted her to reflect on her behavior over the last year, and write a letter to God and tell him why she deserved a bike for her birthday. Little Carol stomped up the steps to her room and sat down to write God a letter.
